EWING, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Universal Display Corporation (NASDAQ: PANL), enabling energy-efficient displays and lighting with its UniversalPHOLED technology and materials, today announced that Steven V. Abramson, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, has been honored by the New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC) as the 2011 Public CEO of the Year. The announcement was made at the 2011 NJTC Executive Leadership Summit, held earlier today in Jersey City, N.J.

Mr. Abramson became Universal Display’s CEO in 2008, after serving as its Chief Operating Officer since the company went public in 1996. As CEO, he has built shareholder value by establishing Universal Display as a global technology innovator and leader in the field of organic light emitting devices (OLEDs). Universal Display develops and delivers state-of-the-art OLED technologies, materials and services to the display and lighting industries. In addition to his role as CEO, Mr. Abramson serves as President of Universal Display and has been a member of its Board of Directors since 1996.

Mr. Abramson received his J.D. from Temple University and his M.A. in International Relations and Philosophy of Science from The Ohio State University. He received his B.A. in International Relations from Bucknell University. He also serves on the boards of a number of charitable and educational organizations.
